healthy organic vegan breakfast smoothie recipe

In 2008, I had the pleasure of meeting a man named Bernando LaPallo while on vacation in Arizona, through a good friend. After meeting him,  I was inspired to come up with a healthy, raw vegan breakfast smoothie recipe.

At the time I met him, he was 107 years old and he loved to teach people about his healthy vegan lifestyle and his knowledge of nutrition. Never being sick a day in his life is what he attributes this to.

My friend told me lots of great things about him prior to me meeting him but it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to meet him for myself that I was convinced he was the real deal.

Vegan Breakfast Smoothie Recipe Origin

I met him at his home in Tempe, Arizona where books about health and nutrition filled his living room.

He was sitting in a recliner and my friend and I sat on the couch. It was basically a Q&A session for about 45 minutes or so.

I learned a lot from him, some of the things that stuck out were he learned everything about how to take care of his body from his Dad, he practiced a vegan lifestyle, he ate lamb twice a year since they do it in the Bible and that he gets up early every morning and takes a walk.

He also talked about olive oil, the best the for your skin and feet to keep them soft and healthy.

The main thing that I learned from him was that he made a healthy vegan breakfast smoothie every morning that includes one key ingredient and that is Dr. Richard Schulze’s superfood plus powder.

He showed me how he made his and from that I came up with my own recipe that provides you with all the nutrition you need for one whole day.

I would definitely recommend using a Vitamix because I burned through four blenders and a Ninja while making this breakfast smoothie every morning.

Healthy Vegan Breakfast Smoothie Ingredients List

Here are the ingredients:

-1 organic orange
-1 handful of organic greens of your choice (spinach, kale, chard, greens, etc.)
-a small number of organic walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, almonds, flaxseed, pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds
-2 tablespoons of Dr. Schulze Superfood Plus
-1 organic garlic clove
-2 cups of organic frozen fruit of your choice
-1 cup of water
-1 organic banana

Throw everything in the Vitamix and blend on speed 10 for 90 seconds or until you reach your desired consistency.

The taste will vary depending on which greens or fruit you use.

It makes approximately a 32oz smoothie and keeps me satisfied until lunch.

If you’re still hungry, you can supplement it with some wheat toast and peanut butter.

Try it out and let me know what you think. It’s a great way to start your day.
